 Praia Grande has been voted by Trip Advisor reviewers into the top 10 of beaches in Europe with the calmest waters. Foz do Arelho, the other Portuguese beach to make the top 10 is 350km's away north of Lisbon  Praia Grande, just a short stroll from Casa Emibella is the main local beach and is a wide sandy beach with plenty of facilities. It's sheltered and very safe for both swimming and watersports. There are four beach cafe / restaurants and it's a great place to catch an amazing sunset. Sunset November 2023. (photo N Stockton)
